Story: Sportsmen are also human beings and they cannot be excluded out of the list of ordinary people. Before the game the participants were wondering very actively where “one can buy beer in the playing hall venue ”.Of course only in supermarkets. Having heard this answer the players were perplexed: «How are we supposed to play???»
However, most probably they were joking when asking it. Some of them can be demanded to pass the doping control and alcoholic beverages are stated in FIDE Regulations as prohibited substances. Read more »

Russian women team defeats the reigning Olympiad champions. Round 4 Report

In the fourth round of the Khanty-Mansiysk Olympiad the rating favorites of the women event Russia-1 defeated the winners of the Dresden Olympiad – Georgia. The key to success was Alisa Galliamova’s victory over Bela Khotenashvili; other three games were drawn.
Four teams won all their matches in the starting four rounds and collected 8 team points. According to the tie-break they are placed in the following order: 1. Ukraine, 2. Bulgaria, 3. China, 4. Russia-1. Other four teams collected 7 points. Read more »

The chess player of the national team of Argentina Claudia Amura lost her camera during her flight to Khanty-Mansiysk and got very much disappointed that she wouldn’t be able to take pictures of the tournament, new friends and beautiful sights of the Olympiad capital. An international festival of the contemporary art “My UGRA” was opened in Khanty-Mansiysk. During 3 days the visitors will see fashion-shows of young designers from Russia (Ekaterinbourg, Sochi, Nizhnevartovsk, Khanty-Mansiysk, Surgut and Nyagan) as well as from abroad - China and Africa. The festival is open for Ugorian people and for the participants of the World Chess Olympiad. «I am 11 and I have everything ahead of me»

I play chess since 2008. I started playing in chess tournaments from the beginning of 2010. It is my first Chess Olympiad and it is unforgettable. I am grateful to my sister for the fact that once she came up to me and proposed to join the chess club.
